Our First Pinhoti Trip

We started off a little late due to the heavy fog that stayed a little too long in the morning. We camped overnight in Cheaha State park, and drove to the trailhead in the morning. We came up on McDill point, and I forgot completely about the outlook trail. But we did see part of the plane.

We meet a few people on trails and a few boy scouts, but after the connector trail we didn't see anyone until the next day.

Heaven was an amazing view and well worth the extra mileage.

We camped out at the first camping spot down the Nubbin creek trail, it was a nice spot and no ants.

The following morning we ran into some other campers next to the Mills Shoal creek and continued our way back to the car on the Cave Creek trail. We missed the cave though, maybe next time.

Also lots of these flowers where in bloom all over the trail.

All in All it was a wonderful trip and we are already planning our next trip.

TuffBurg - 7 out of 11 ain't bad.

My frist mountain bike race of 2011 was Tuffburg. I'm way better than I was last year, but I wanted to be a little behind the pack. I need to improve my time by about 8 min to get when I want to do be. I got 7th out of 11. Its a good start to the year, and I look forward to the rest of the season.

Mountain House Vs. Backpacker's Pantry

Me and the girlfriend are testing gear and practicing with car camping before we go on our "real" hike.  We wanted to know which food was better, Mountain House or Backpacker's Pantry.  Both companies had Chilli Mac w/ Beef, so we used this for our test.  From the picture above  you can probably tell which one is better.

Mountain House's tasted better by far.  It had beans, chunks of beef, and an actual sauce.  Backpacker's Pantry had some spices that just diluted the water, the noodles where weak, and the beef looked like they chopped up a flattened sheet of beef product.

Mountain House wins this one by a huge margin.

For the test we used our Jetboil to boil the water and just added the water to the bag and let it steep (Or whatever you call it) for the amount of time shown on the side of the bag.

New Blog

I'm starting another blog,  I've started a few over the years, never got very far past the beginning.  Maybe this time will be different.  I'm not really going for any theme on this blog, just whatever I'm doing.  Hopefully I keep it updated regularly.

"People confuse the medium for the message...Blogging is an act of sharing yourself" -Om Malik  I think I got in this trap, hopefully this will be better.
